Mark Blaskey Metal Studio
I started working with my father—a math teacher, accomplished cabinet-maker and former professional welder—in the family workshop at the age of five. After receiving B.S and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from UW-Madison, I moved to Eau Claire and launched a long career designing dams, bridges, sub-divisions, office complexes, and industrial facilities. In 2001, after inheriting my father’s equipment and acquiring a plasma torch and computer-controlled cutting table, I felt compelled to rediscover my more artistic capacities. I combined my extensive designing and drawing experience with my dormant welding skills to begin creating metal sculptures.
